Women of St. James’
All women are invited to be a part of this group of dedicated
and hard working members who meet monthly to plan for social events,
seasonal celebrations, fund raisers, community projects, and
fellowship.
In 2007, this group began sponsoring flea markets and a
thrift shop once a month, from late spring through mid fall.
They hope to raise money to purchase a new heating system for
the Parish Hall, so that it will continue to be available for parish
use and outside groups well into the future.
Their upcoming events for 2008 are as follows:

Flea Market and Thrift Shop, 7 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Outreach Committee
The outreach committee’s focus this year is our local
community. We distribute
food baskets to neighbors in need on all the major holidays.
We also keep an ear open for other needs as they arise.
Another service is distributing the flowers from the altar to
sick and shut in friends and members, or to local nursing homes.
Worship
Members of St. James’ are active in various aspects of our
worship services. These
ministries include the following:
Altar Guild: Prepare the linens, altar hangings, and Eucharistic vessels for our worship service
Eucharistic Ministers: Serve the chalice during the Communion service
Readers: Read the lessons at all services of worship
Lectors:
Lead “Morning Prayer” on occasional Sunday mornings
Acolytes: Carry the processional cross or torches and assist the priest
in preparing the table for the Eucharist
Property Committee
The property committee is charged with
the responsibility of maintaining the buildings and grounds of the
church. We are a
historic church with a grave yard dating back to the 1700’s.
We have beautiful buildings which are in continual need of
maintenance and repair.
Our facilities are used not only by
church members, but also by many outside groups - such as AA and
private rentals. In
2008, we will begin a cooperative effort with the Bristol Riverside
Theatre and host a series of “readings” by this theatre group.
